(Harrisburg, Pa.) Dawood, an international engineering, technology, and finance solutions firm, has elevated Joab (Jody) Carter, PLS, to survey director with end-to-end oversight of U.S. surveying operations. A professional land surveyor and U.S. Army veteran with more than 20 years of experience, Carter leads a team of nearly 40 surveyors and  subsurface utility engineering (SUE) specialists with global connectivity.

“Jody’s new leadership role reflects the value that he brings our clients while providing a steady hand necessary to grow our surveying, mapping, and dimensional scanning portfolio,” said President and CEO Bony Dawood, PE. “His diverse cross-industry acumen and team-first mentality focuses our operations and strengthens our overall geospatial technologies brand.”

Carter’s spectrum of work includes mobile LiDAR, drones, and as-builts—with expertise ranging from boundary determinations, subdivisions, and construction stakeouts to topographic, utility, and highway surveys. His team supports every Dawood discipline, including Good Hope Ventures real estate development, with direct line-of-sight on Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania operations.

Tasked to use terrestrial scanning and survey a 115-year-old historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania, structure, Carter’s team provided detailed measurements and profile elevations of the existing Safe Harbor Trestle Bridge superstructure—leading to seamless new deck placement.

Throughout his career, Carter has managed surveying and mapping tasks for varied infrastructure projects, new construction, and improvements for rails to trails, parks, sports fields, universities, schools, and shopping centers.

“Under Jody’s direction, our U.S. surveying crews work seamlessly with our European and Middle East counterparts to fuel our digital twin message and elevate our clients’ survey, scanning, geographic information systems (GIS), and building information modeling (BIM) capabilities,” said ArchiTube Vice President Adam Grewenda.

Carter is a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors and the National Society of Professional Surveyors.
