As lead engineer, Dawood managed the SR 22-A13 bridge replacement project for PennDOT, District 2-0, in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, to improve the structures’ integrity and fortify decades-old infrastructure. The existing SR 22 slab bridge was replaced with a precast concrete box culvert.
Our team evaluated and implemented staged construction for SR 22 to maintain traffic flow throughout the project. This was necessary due to a long detour inadequate to support truck traffic, a major utility to the north, and a substantial environmental impact to the south.
Dawood also supported the Department’s environmental clearance efforts with data needed for a Bridge and Roadway Programmatic Agreement. Permitting was provided through a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection GP-11 permit, issued by the state for maintenance, testing, repair, or replacement of water obstructions or encroachments used for bridges.
