Staged Bridge Replacement, PennDOT District 2-0

As lead engineer, Dawood managed the SR 22-A13 bridge replacement project for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), District 2-0, in Mifflin County, PA, to replace the existing SR 22 slab bridge with a precast concrete box culvert.

Our team evaluated and implemented staged construction for SR 22 to maintain traffic flow throughout the project. This was necessary due to a long detour inadequate to support truck traffic, a major utility to the north, and a substantial environmental impact to the south.

Dawood also supported the PennDOT’s environmental clearance efforts with data needed for a Bridge and Roadway Programmatic Agreement related to maintenance, testing, repair, or replacement of water obstructions or encroachments used for bridges.
