Johnson Roberts Associates, Inc. a provider of architectural services in Boston, MA contracted SMC/Dawood to provide a topographic base plan along with a definitive right-of-way of the historical and iconic City Hall in Cambridge, MA the home of such world-renowned educational institutions as Harvard and MIT. In devising the survey approach to be adapted, SMC/Dawood decided to utilize a combination of Trimble S6 robotic instruments and the Trimble SX10 Total Station Scanner.
The Trimble SX10 scanner captured 26,000 points/second and with its range off 600m (Approx. 1900ft) we were able to quickly and accurately capture the whole building façade in just a few short hours. Apart from the traditional 2D existing conditions plan deliverable, we also delivered a registered point cloud which provided the Client with a few more options. The on-time and on-budget project helped the client meet their design milestones.
