Engineers Week 2022: Clarence Wysocki

(Canonsburg, PA) Engineers Week (Feb 20-26, 2022) was created by the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1951 to increase the understanding of and interest in engineering careers, particularly from a diverse and well-educated workforce. This week, Dawood is shining a spotlight on some of our engineers to showcase the breadth of knowledge and experience among our staff. Today, we speak to Clarence Wysocki, PE, Senior Project Manager and Civil Engineer.

Hi Clarence! Please tell us a little bit about how you got into the engineering field and what your current position at Dawood is like.

Clarence: I went to the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1995. Today,  I’m a professional civil engineer licensed in Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Over the past 25 years, I  have a broad range of experience providing civil engineering designs for municipal, industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential projects.   I’m currently located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and have been with Dawood for 5 years.

What is so special about engineering and how does it motivate you?

Clarence: I enjoy solving problems for our clients, and each project and site has its own unique set of issues. Working through these issues and completing projects that meet the client’s objectives, while minimizing negative impacts to adjacent properties and the environment, is a challenge that motivates me.

Tell us about one of your favorite Dawood projects and what makes it stand out to you.

Clarence: While every assignment is different and I enjoy variety, the Westlake Chemical’s Natrium plant fly ash landfill closure was my favorite project. My experience includes small commercial businesses, large industrial parks, small residential subdivisions, large mixed-use campuses, schools, churches, recreation fields, and other community facilities.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

Clarence: I enjoy backpacking, hiking and camping.
