Our Summer Spotlight series shines a light on the uniqueness of our Dawood team members. Diversity is key, as we all look to excel in a world of possibilities. Today, we speak with Survey Party Chief, Pedro Sevilla.
- How long have you worked at Dawood and why did you choose to work here?
I’ve worked at Dawood for four years, and I chose to work for the company because I admire their initiative and training programs. The Dawood team pursues a wide variety of projects spanning interesting and diverse geographies. During my training, Michael Anthony was a very knowledgeable resource, and continues to be accessible, answering any of my questions.
- Before working at Dawood, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked as a baseball coach volunteering for my son’s league, which was for children ages 6 through 11 years old. I enjoy seeing the kids develop their skills and learn teamwork while playing together. Having played high school baseball, I chose coaching because I enjoy the opportunity to share some of the skills I had as a young man.
- What is the favorite part about working for Dawood?
When our team satisfies the client’s needs and expectations. I also enjoy being afforded the opportunity to travel to different states and cities– whether visiting Philadelphia to work as the Crew Chief when conducting ALTA surveys for a national supermarket chain, or performing similar work on a Midwest utility project.
- Three words to best describe you:
Honest, reliable, and adaptable.
- What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
I can’t pick just one. I need both – my family and water. Family helps me through the tough times. They support my goals and ambitions. We all need water to survive. As a planet and as individuals, it’s essential to our existence.
- What is your favorite pastime?
At the beach, I enjoy body surfing and swimming along the Jersey shore and visiting family amusement parks along the boardwalk at night on family trips to the beach.
- Favorite Baseball Team?
The Atlanta Braves! In high school, I started as a pitcher, playing hardball but later transitioned to softball. I now play all positions.
