Dawood provided structural engineering support for this turnkey construction company. Structural analysis, steel specification, and foundation design were completed for a 24’x57’x75’ tall braced steel framed building, with removable roof, containing aggregate sorting equipment and subject to external conveyor loads. The building was modeled in finite-element software and the effects of dynamic equipment loads on the building were studied. Vibration isolation was required to separate vibrating equipment from enclosure framing. The structural model was also utilized to study bracing stiffness. This was necessary due to the many enclosure penetrations. A study was also conducted in another design software package to determine adequacy and reinforcement requirements of a flexible mat foundation. Due to the large size of the materials, varying subgrade stiffness beneath were considered in the study.
